About

StartUP Nations is a training course that is offered by the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Economic Development Commission (FNQLEDC) and the First Nations Social Economy Regional Table (FNSERT), in partnership with the Chantier de l’économie sociale and several other partners.

Originally made possible by the Secrétariat à la jeunesse du Québec, StartUP Nations aims to promote the social economy among First Nations youth. The first two StartUP Nations events were held in Montreal in 2017 and 2019 in the context of three-day gatherings.

In 2020, the course was adapted for First Nations women, under the name StartUP Nations Ikwe, in collaboration with Quebec Native Women (QNW). Thus, two sessions of StartUP Nations Ikwe were organized for 2020 and 2021 in the form of a 12-week virtual course.
